"More than 250 people attended an Aberdeen event last night hosted by venture capital group Energy Ventures.

Representatives from companies in which Energy Ventures has invested showcased their products and services at the function in the Marcliffe Hotel.

The portfolio firms include Aberdeen-based Sigma Offshore and Deep Casing Tools.

Greg Herrera, who heads Energy Ventures' business in the UK, said the group planned to lead investments into the UK of £50 million over the next 12 months.

Former BP chief geophysicist David Bamford was guest speaker and gave a presentation on successful oil and gas technologies."
