Kongsberg Maritime acquires Sense Intellifield

Kongsberg Maritime has paid 290 million Norwegian kroner for 100% of technology company Sense Intellifield, net of debt. The purchase price may increase significantly, depending on the company’s performance in 2007 and 2008.

Sense Intellifield delivers products and services within Integrated Operations, or e-field to the global oil & gas market. The company develops, markets and sells sophisticated products, systems and solutions for real time remote control of drilling operations and production optimisation to the international oil and gas industry. The company has for example developed software to collect, transport, store and visualise data from well- and drilling services on rigs.

Combined with the purchase of Fantoft Process Technologies earlier this year and Kongsberg Maritime’s own activities within oil and gas, the purchase of Sense Intellifield strengthens the position of Kongsberg Maritime within the international oil and gas industry.

”The purchase of Sense Intellifield broadens the product portfolio of Kongsberg Maritime in the fast growing market for Integrated Operations”, says Managing Director Torfinn Kildal in Kongsberg Maritime. “Integrated Operations are increasingly important to the oil and gas industry, within exploration as well as production”.

Managing Director Børge Kolstad in Sense Intellifield says that “with Kongsberg Maritime as owner Sense Intellifield will significantly strengthen its position as the leading independent technology company within e-field and Integrated Operations. The companies are perfectly complementary with regards to products and markets. The result is an improved product offering to our customers within the oil & gas market going forward.

Since it was founded in June 2003, Sense Intellifield has achieved strong growth. Its turnover for 2006 is approx. MNOK 115. There are approx. 70 staff in the company located at offices in Stavanger, Kristiansand, Oslo, Trondheim and Houston. Sense Intellifield has established excellent customer relations with a number of the leading global oil and gas companies.
