Stingray Expands to Fulfil Future Fosar Demand

Stingray Geophysical Limited – www.stingraygeo.com - provider of the most advanced fibre-optic seismic permanent reservoir monitoring (Seismic PRM) solutions to the global oil and gas industry has expanded its management team and geographical presence to support the commercial sale and manufacture of its reliable and cost-effective Fosar® seabed seismic sensing system.

Chris Cottam has joined Stingray as Vice-President, Global Sales and will be based in our newly opened office in Houston. Chris has over 30 years’ industry experience, having held various operational, sales and senior management positions for Scott Pickford, Core Laboratories, ION Geophysical and Paradigm. He has successfully established global sales and business development organisations focused on meeting the needs of oil company customers and grown several businesses from start-up in the international arena. With a degree in Geology, Chris is a member of the EAGE, SEG and SEAPEX.

Appointed Supply Chain Director, Alan Knowlton is responsible for the development and management of Stingray’s outsourced manufacturing and supply chain capability. A Chartered Engineer, Alan has held senior positions in multi-nationals such as Xerox and Umeco in the aerospace industry, where he has successfully taken new products from the development process and delivered to completion complex, full-scale, third-party electro-mechanical production projects. He will be working with our development and manufacturing partners to enhance Stingray’s ability to deliver reliable, cost-effective PRM systems, with an initial focus on supporting the scale-up of manufacturing activities.

Expanding on the steps taken to facilitate Stingray’s next phase of growth, Chief Executive Martin Bett, said: “Seismic PRM is Stingray’s sole focus and our goal is to build a substantial business. To do this, we have adopted a leveraged business model based on recruiting and maintaining a core team of world-class individuals with extended skill-sets and the ability to create and manage fruitful relationships with expert partners in areas ranging from geophysics, leading-edge optical sensing, manufacturing, subsea engineering and installation to seismic acquisition and processing. This approach allows us to concentrate on harnessing the skills, expertise and facilities of the broad range of specialist partners required to ensure the proficient delivery of PRM solutions, giving us the integrated capabilities of a much bigger company. This places Stingray in the unique position of being able to offer complete solutions to our clients that even the largest established oilfield service companies are not yet able to supply.

“Both Chris and Alan bring a wealth of senior level international experience to our inter-disciplinary team, strengthening our distinctive position in the marketplace. Stingray’s goal is to assist oil companies in their drive to increase production, improve recoverable reserves and reduce cost and risk through effective reservoir management strategies. With a world-class technology, a flexible business model, an expert leadership team and specialist partners spanning the requisite capabilities, we now have all the elements in place to make it happen.”
